| Light is a kind of energy that our eyes detect. Light is wave energy but it also has particles. It travels in the form of rays that move in straight lines from the source. There is both natural light like the sun and artificial light. Light bounces off surfaces, especially shiny ones. The further away the light source is the dimmer the light. Light can pass through thin paper and glass but not a human body. Shadows are formed when something blocks the light. Most objects do not emit light themselves but can be seen when light bounces off them. Now students have learned what light is they must explain in their own words what it is and where it comes from. Also have them explain why they can't see objects in a dark room. |
